Overview
MatrEX® Binary Gel is a nitromethane-based energetic product packaged in a two-part, epoxy-style cartridge. The system consists of Part A (the larger compartment) and Part B (the smaller compartment). Both components remain non-explosive flammables until they are combined.
When extruded through the supplied mixing nozzle, the two parts react to produce a high-explosive formulation characterized by high overpressure and high bulk energy, with a consistent detonation velocity. The mixture is ready for immediate use upon leaving the nozzle.

- ■ Consistency: The mixed product resembles a common automotive grease but is thicker.
- ■ Molding Capabilities: The formulation allows the gel to mold to any device shape needed.
- ■ Stability: Unlike many other binary explosives, MatrEX® maintains its shape in any container or device without spilling or leaking.
- ■ Temperature: The gel is stable through a wide temperature range and can be stored for extended periods.
- ■ Density: The gel has a density of 0.9 g/cm³, making it easy to handle and transport. Much simpler than C4.
